Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)

We've been appointed to find a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) on behalf of a local apparel manufacturing business. It's an early-stage business, and this is the firm's first CAO appointment.

This role reports directly to the Group Co-CEO based in the US. Will be responsible for recruiting, managing and oversee accounting departments for all our clients Global entities, including Ghana, Mauritius, China, and USA.

Ensure Financial Statements for all our client's Entities are prepared timely and accurately on a monthly basis Including Summary Management Report for Group with MD&A, Budget vs Actual Reporting/Analysis for all entities
Analyze accounts and suggest improvements to reduce costs and increase profits 
Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by the executive leadership team. Responsible for strengthening all internal controls and monitoring compliance, especially in the following areas
Procurement, A/P & Cash Procedures, Payroll & Inventory, Fixed Assets Ensure tax compliance in all the Group jurisdictions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations and laws. 
Prepare and present weekly cash flow reports for each entity int he Group and  Global Audit payroll processing in all locations/companies
Determine accounting and tax implications for all material business decisions.
Contribute significantly to the budgeting process for the Group.  
Assist with the creation of reports and implementation of tools for budgeting and forecasting.  
Help develop and maintain operational budgets for each entity in the Group.  
Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regards to goals, budgets and forecasts. 
Ensure Company Accounting records are kept in a manner that makes Budget vs Actual comparisons as easy as possible
Prepare and present monthly budget vs actual reports.  
Provide insights and recommendations.
Play a key role in the implementation of software for the Group, including modules for Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Accounting.
Ensure software provides information needed for improved Operational efficiency and accurate accounting/financials.
Oversee the management, maintenance and upgrades of the company’s accounting and operating system software. 
Make suggestions for automating processes and increasing efficiency.
Monitor and report on Global Banking Status (e.g. LC status, Term Loan Status, Bank Balances)
Manage External Auditors, Annual Compliance Audits for all Global entities
Monthly Internal Control functions
Represent accounting department at board meetings

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance,
CPA or Chartered Accountant Certification
10-15+ years of experience
Previous experience managing accounting functions and groups

Good knowledge of local tax laws, Ghana Free Zone rules and other Ghana tax/regulatory requirement Advanced knowledge of professional accounting software, including background coordinating with IT staff to manage and/or upgrade accounting system.  

Systems implementation experience strongly preferred.

Extensive business experience and strategic knowledge

Skilled in Microsoft suite; proficient in complex accounting systems

Highly skilled in budgeting and bookkeeping

Excellent financial and analytical abilities

Outstanding written and oral communication skills

High attention to detail

Able to manage workload while maintaining sometimes irregular hours due to the global nature of the business

Mature team player able to act as a valued partner to support the Operational areas of the business
